The Three Rental Packages
Before looking at the numbers, it’s worth understanding the three package types — this is where most of the price difference comes from:
Self-Drive — You drive the car yourself. Fuel is not included; you pay for it separately. The most affordable option, and ideal if you’re comfortable navigating unfamiliar roads.

Driver + Fuel — The most hassle-free option. Both the driver and fuel are covered in the flat daily rate. Particularly good value for long-distance routes like Sembalun, the Rinjani foothills, or a full-day south coast trip — fuel consumption on those routes adds up more than most people expect.
All rates below are per day (24 hours). For rentals of 3 days or more, ask about multi-day rates.
City Cars (2–4 Passengers)
The most affordable option for couples or small groups exploring Mataram, Senggigi, and the west coast. Not recommended for steep mountain roads heading toward Sembalun or Rinjani.

The Hiace is the most cost-efficient option for groups of 10 or more — on a per-person basis, it works out significantly cheaper than booking two or three separate cars, and keeps the group together.
Extra Costs to Budget For
The rates above cover the vehicle rental only. The following are paid separately by the renter — and are the ones most people forget to factor in:
Fuel — For self-drive and with-driver packages, fuel is on you. Consumption varies by vehicle and route; mountainous roads like Sembalun burn noticeably more than flat coastal routes.
Parking fees — Popular spots like Kuta Mandalika, the Gili Islands ferry piers, and the Rinjani area charge for parking. Amounts vary and can be higher during peak season.
Tolls — Some roads around Mataram and Praya are tolled. Small amounts individually, but worth factoring in for longer trips.
Boat crossing fees — If your route involves a sea crossing (a ferry to Sumbawa, for instance), those costs are the renter’s responsibility.
Security deposit — For self-drive rentals, a deposit or your original ID is held as collateral. Returned in full once the vehicle is back in good condition.
What Affects the Final Price
These are our standard daily rates. What you pay at booking may vary based on:
Season and demand. Around Indonesian public holidays, school breaks, and the year-end period, fleet availability drops quickly — especially for larger vehicles. Rates may be higher and booking early becomes more important.
Rental duration. Rentals of 3 or more days can often be negotiated at a better daily rate. Ask us directly for weekly pricing.
Pickup time and location. Pickups outside normal hours or at locations well outside our base area may carry a small additional fee, agreed upon at booking.
Tips for Getting the Best Rate
Book early, especially for large vehicles. The Hiace and Alphard are consistently the first to go during busy periods. A week or two in advance is usually fine for normal travel dates; further ahead for major holidays.
Ask about multi-day rates. For rentals of 3 days or more, it’s always worth asking — there’s usually room for a better daily rate.
Match the vehicle to your actual route. A city car handles Senggigi and Mataram just fine. But if Sembalun or Pink Beach is on your itinerary, an SUV or capable MPV will make the drive considerably more comfortable.
